Religious Education Program
The Religious Education program is dedicated to teaching our faith to all parishioners---youth and adults. The purpose of our classes is to present the life and teachings of Jesus Christ to enable them to learn and grow in the love of Our Lord, to be made aware of the blessings of our Catholic Faith, and to put these teachings into daily life practices.
Opportunities for sacramental preparation (First Communion, Confirmation, and Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults RCIA, RCIC for Children) are also offered September through May each year. For more information, contact the DRE, Maryrae Stein in the church office.
Religious Education Volunteers:
The Religious Education program is staffed by volunteer lay teachers or leaders. To volunteer, please contact the church office.
First Reconciliation / First Communion / Confirmation
These sacraments take place through our Religious Education programs.
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)If you are an adult and want to become a Catholic or learn more about the Catholic Church, the way it happens is through a process called the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). A rite is how the Church celebrates special prayer and experience. The focus invitation of the RCIA is to adults who are not baptized. However, baptized non-Catholics (already Christian) are also warmly invited.
The experience of the RCIA is to assist prospective Catholics in their journey to become an active member of the Catholic Church Community. During this
personal faith journey, we are involved with Scripture, prayer, Catholic beliefs and practices, and more.
This is all experienced in a community setting with a number of Catholic adults who serve as companions and sponsors. RCIA meets once a week, beginning in August and continues through May. contact the DRE, Maryrae Stein in the church office.
Rite of Christian Initiation for Young Children (RCIA)
St. Anthony's offers preparation for children older than 2nd grade needing the Sacrament of Reconciliation and First Communion. It will parallel the adult RCIA but will focus on children and youth. For more information, contact the DRE, Maryrae Stein in the church office.
